While I've come to grow fond of Higashino's writing (something I openly admit might bias my ratings of his work), A MidSummer's Equation proves to be the best I've read out of his entire Detective Galileo series.

The set-up and mystery are strong enough on their own, but I really felt Higashino's strengths of characterisation and atmospere through description oozing out of the pages here.

Fantastic work, maybe his best. Do consider giving it a read.
