Eminently gripping and masterfully paced.

This is probably the first time I've read a work that so smoothly transitions from a detective whodunit thriller to the accounts of a criminal.

Despite that (or perhaps because of it), I was struck by how seamless a read Matsumoto's A Quiet Place was. Throughout, I found myself empathising with Asai's fractured, sometimes rational, occasionally erratic, but always reasonable psyche. Highly recommend this.
