I’ve committed myself to authenticity in writing these reviews, even if that ends up translating to less pleasant reviews to read overall.

The first 2 stories in this anthology really resonated with me. The following 2 did not at all. Credit where credit is due, its clear to me even from this short collection that Yokoyama is a master of tension, and he definitely plays to his strengths by writing within the specific context of a prefectural station.

When all is said and done though, I doubt I’ll find myself returning to Prefecture D anytime soon.
