A nice, self-contained story about longing and loss. Definitely the most grounded Murakami piece I’ve read thusfar, though I am conflicted on whether this strict adherence to a more conventional plot structure takes away from the appeal of Murakami’s magic realist tendencies.

Very much reminded me of Kawabata’s Snow Country if it were set in modern times.
