This was something that I suspected after reading Ayatsuji's The Decagon House Murders, and now reading The Mill House Murders has all but confirmed it.

I am not a fan of the Locked-room, Whodunit genre by any means. Something about how specific and perfectly orchestrated the settings of these work are, alongside the guaranteed "all's well that ends well" endings diminish the enjoyment I derive from the uncertain.

But at that point, I'm picking away at the core conceit of category. If I say any more, I run the risk of becoming the idiot who criticizes the pasta for being too high-carb.

All credit to Ayatsuji, The Mill House Murders is another fantastic piece that will no doubt leave his fans enraptured.

I am unfortunately, just not a fan.
